Hey Lina, I know how you feel. I’m 18 and I kinda have the same problem, and all I really want is to look better than I do now, to make myself feel better about my body. One thing I started to love doing is running on a stair climber at the gym, because its not like running outside and getting tierd or embarrassed, and me having asthma doesnt let me run outside as much as I’d like. Another one is Yoga or Pilates, I do those constantly! and i lost like 15 pounds in the first month
But the main thing I realized is I had to cut down majourly on unhealthy foods, you can look up some good eating habits and foods you should avoid on the internet. Another thing, which was good to find out, is that you have to stick with it if you want awsome results, cause it doesnt come easy or fast. Hope that helped
Hi Lina,
First of all, don’t beat yourself up. If you’re confident, then other people won’t care how you look.
It’s really good that you are going to try to lose weight. Don’t think of it as a diet. Think of it as a life style change. Diet is absolutely necessary. Try eating many vegetables, and say no to fried food whenever possible. It will rake time.
For exercise, set goals, do squats, lunges, and all sorts of exercises to build your muscles. Muscles boost your metabolism by burning fat. Google different exercises to do. For cardio, you should buy an elliptical machine or treadmill, or join a gym! Don’t be afraid of what people will think of you, because guess what? They’re trying to improve themselves just like you are. Start at slow paces if you can’t go too fast. I know from personal experience that you will gradually be able to make it faster in a few weeks!
Anyway, good luck!

Im 12 and i where size 9 pants! I was never a really bad eater, even though i eat junk food now and then. I never really cared about my thighs until i reached 7th grade. I have a family with big thighs, but i cant get rid of them. I have a slim stomach and arms, but when it gets to my thighs, their monsters! Lol. I need some exercises that don’t include buying all kinds of stuff, and an easy diet…?
Hey katrina!
When I was 12 I was a size 8 so don’t feel too bad:) cardio is the biggest thing you can do. I figured out that the root of my problem was not getting enough exercise, so I worked on my endurance and in a few months my legs were skinner and I felt much much better!!
I also day very little meat/animal products and eat a lot of vegetables. Try that. I know it will help:)

ok, i have stretch marks on my thighs… and it sucks. everyone says i look fine, but they ave never seen the stretch marks.. if i do exercises and stuff, will this possibly reduce my stretch marks??
Hey Ann, exercise won’t reduce stretch marks. But Bio-oil used twice a day for at least 3-4 months will drastically reduce the appearance of stretch marks. As much as you hate to hear it, they won’t ever go away completely, without expensive treatments, but Bio-Oil is an excellent start. I would know from experience.
Hi im also 12 and i have really fat thighs all of my friends dont and they all wear short shorts and i always feel left out i want to know if anybody knows 3-5 exercises that i can do in the morning and at night that can get my thighs to be really skinny in about 1 mounth….. Thanks alot:)

I am 52 – been working at the gym 5x week for about a year now. My workout consists of about 45 min. of weight training using Fitlinx machines and free weights (now at 10 lbs for arms – doing 3 sets of 12-15), and then cardio burn of 400-450 cal. Alternate legs/back days with arms/abs days. But I am stuck at 167-169 lbs. Wear a size 10 b/c of my hips. Would like to be in an 8. I realize my diet needs some re-ordering. I work in an office so I sit all day – been trying to get up every 15 minutes or so and move. While I do have an hour-glass figure and strength – my thighs and hips are still too thick – especially inner thighs. What exactly should I eat and is the 6-meal a day plan best for me to boost my metabolism. I would like to be at 135 – but that may not be reasonable with muscle.
Gah! I’m 13 and I’m rapidly gaining weight these days. I’m happy with my upper body but my thighs can barely squeeze into a size 0. What are a few excersices I can do to make my thighs/legs slimmer? Please Help.
Hi Lily,
If you want to slim down your thighs, you need to focus on lowering your overall body fat levels. The best way to make this happen is to clean up your diet (avoid sugar and junk foods and eat more lean protein and heart healthy fats) and implement some sort of full body exercise program. I would specifically recommend weight training workouts that also include an aerobic component. Something like a free weight based interval workout that sprinkles in some moderate intensity cardio would help you to lose some body fat quickly.
If I had to recommend just one thigh slimming exercise, it would be some variation of a squat (either body weight, barbell or dumbbell). This exercise just seems to help the body fat start melting off, but you do have to be careful. Some women find that squatting too much causes their thighs to actually get a little bigger (due to muscle gain), so it’s important to mix this exercise into your workout routine only 1 or 2 times each week.
Hi my name is Ashleigh. I’m 17 and have been a gymnast for most of my life however I’ve been forced to quit and am wondering how to get rid of my big thighs? Theyre all muscle but I would just like them to be slimmer. Any suggestions?
Hi Ashleigh,
This can be a tough situation to deal with for sure. I never like to advise anybody to purposely lose muscle mass because of the fact that your metabolism will start to slow down a bit once the muscle is gone and you will put on some additional body fat as a result. Here’s what I would do if I were in your situation…
Stay away from free weight based lower body exercises like lunges and squats for a while and instead focus on upper body free weight exercises combined with short bursts of high intensity aerobic exercise. Perform this type of combo workout 3 times per week. If you have the energy and you really want to slim your thighs, then fit in a few steady state cardio workouts as well. While you are focusing on your workouts, start to lower the amount of calories that you are taking in each day by eliminating any sugars or junk foods. Make sure to eat 5 – 6 nutritionally complete meals each day, but start to lower the amount of protein that you are eating with each meal. These tips should help you to start slimming your thighs.
Hi,
I’m 13 and even though I wear a size 1 in pants my thighs are so big and every time I go to the beach people stare at me with a disgusted look and I’m tired of feeling left out I wear a size 1 because my waist is 26 inches i think, and i see larger girls that wear a size larger than mine and there thighs are thin-er then mine I don’t understand why?
Hi Nany,
I know it’s probably not what you want to hear, but a lot of this can be attributed to genetics. Different people store fat and build muscle in different parts of their bodies. A lot of women who are relatively skinny store body fat in their thighs, making them bigger. I also know a fair amount of women who build muscle easily in their thigh area, which makes them appear to be big and bulky. The good news is that you can slim down your thighs with some hard work and dedication, but it’s going to take a well rounded fat loss diet and a regular exercise program. In the future, I’m going to outline a step -by – step plan for slimming down your thighs here on the blog, so keep an eye out for that series of posts!
hi, i am 20yrs old. i am not very fat. But i have a pear shaped body . I have thin waist and upper body but i am really heavy and a bit mascular on legs (both calves and thighs) . I am on diet routine wich has brought me down a few pounds buh now my weight is also stuck . What should i do to loose fat from thighs and calves?
Hi Pavitra,
This is a very common problem for many women. Unfortunately, there is really no way to “spot reduce” or shed body fat from only one area of your body. In order to slim down your thighs, you are going to have to focus on striping of body fat all over your body. In order to do this, you will need to incorporate a well rounded fat loss diet and a full body workout program that incorporates aerobic activity as well as weight lifting. The mechanics of fat loss are simple, (eat fewer calories than your body burns on a daily basis), but in reality it can be challenging getting to the gym every day and sticking with a diet. The number one slim thighs tip that I would give you is to make sure and not starve yourself. You need to eat a decent amount of calories and nutrients in order to get rid of body fat. A lot of women think that they will lose fat quicker if the just stop eating all together, but this just does not work!
I am 19 years old, Im about 5’2 and weigh 120 pounds. Ive always been thin. But I have a large chest, a bigger butt, and slightly thicker thighs. My friends and family say I am thin but to me my body looks disproportionate. I do not go to a gym as I have a ton of school work and my job on top of that. Is there anything I can do at home to help slim down my butt and thighs?
Hi. Just to let you know. I’m a personal trainer mum of three and been told I have amazing body. I work very hard at it and try and avoid all sugary foods which are very addictive so cold turkey may be in order. Also processed and fatty foods. If u stick to whole grains and natural foods. I exercise up to 2 hours or more most days but is also my job. I too would like slimmer thighs but I do enjoy my food too and i have muscular thighs too. The secret is simple… Get very active and listen to what yr body says when yr eating. Even overeating just slightly makes the difference so little and often but not snacking all day. 3 small meals and 3 healthy snacks. Eat nuts too !!! Not too much fruit but loads of veg. Fuel yr body with what it needs not what you think it wants. Food is just as important than exercise if not more so!!! Eat to live not Live to eat. Hope u find success but don’t be too hard on yr self. Oh and lots a water x lol x God bless x
Hi Vanessa,
This is so true. Too many people believe that all it’s going to take to slim down their thighs is some “secret” thigh slimming exercise routine, when in all actuality your diet is a more important part of the fat loss process. Thanks for sharing these important fat loss tips!
